By May 1, 2024No Comments

Prevented Ocean Plastic™ has won the Sustainable Innovation in Materials Award at the Plastics Industry Association’s 2024 Plastic Sustainability Innovation Awards.

“We’re so proud that the Plastics Industry Association has recognised our programme,” said Raffi Schieir, Director of Bantam Materials UK Ltd, supplier of Prevented Ocean Plastic™. “Innovation in plastic technology is crucial, and we must continue to look deeper and make real progress to support the circular economy. Prevented Ocean Plastic™ is focused on preventing discarded plastic from polluting our oceans, on protecting our environment, supporting coastal communities, and ultimately offering businesses, brands, and consumers a better plastic choice.”

Prevented Ocean Plastic™ will officially accept the award at a ceremony on May 8th in the middle of the 2024 iteration of NPE: The Plastics Show.

NPE is only held every three years and brings together bold leaders, creative thinkers, and visionaries from every industry in the world to advance their business through innovations in plastics. The 2024 show kicks off in Orlando, Florida on Monday May 6th and will feature more than 1 million square feet of exhibition space, including six technology zones and over 2,000 exhibiting companies.

NPE visitors can find out more about Prevented Ocean Plastic™ by picking up the latest issue of PETplanet magazine that will be distributed there, or by visiting the show’s Sustainability Hub inside the West Hall Tangerine Ballroom of the Orange County Convention Center.

This all-new Sustainability Hub will highlight ongoing industry efforts to promote a more sustainable plastics economy. Open to all registered attendees, this interactive showcase offers a unique chance to follow the environmental journey of plastic — from sustainable materials to efficient manufacturing and groundbreaking go-to-market products.

The Association’s Vice President of Sustainability, Patrick Krieger, congratulated the winners and said, “The plastic industry is constantly innovating to find new ways to keep plastic waste out of our environment and use resources responsibly. I congratulate our winners and look forward to presenting these companies with their well-deserved awards.”

This award isn’t just recognition for the team at Prevented Ocean Plastic™ headquarters, but everyone working so hard throughout the supply chain to make the Programme a success.

The team at Prevented Ocean Plastic™ will always welcome recognition for the Programme, but we know there’s always more to be done. Did you know that Prevented Ocean Plastic™ are on a mission to build 25 collection centres by 2025?
