Prevented Ocean Plastic pops into Christmas

By December 8, 2023No Comments

Prevented Ocean Plastic™ is committed to elevation, social equity, and high-quality recycling all year round. In a year of firsts though, we’ve now popped into Christmas gifting.

House of Dorchester’s new Milk Chocolate Slims are the first Christmas-themed product to be packaged in Prevented Ocean Plastic™. The chocolates feature Snapper- the venus flytrap character from this year’s John Lewis Christmas TV advert– on the front, and the Prevented Ocean Plastic™ logo on the back.

The chocolates are now available in-store and online via John Lewis & Partners

Our logo is also present on the London-themed 70g pack of seven chocolates in the same collection.

Every festive season, UK residents send as much as 114,000 tonnes – equivalent to 650,000 reindeer – of plastic packaging to landfill instead of it being recycled. And statistics suggest a typical household generates over three black bags of packaging each Christmas. Go Ultra Low also conducted a survey which suggested 72% were keen to reduce their plastic waste this Christmas.

Making a better plastic choice can help reduce these numbers.

This Christmas, think POP when you shop!

Prevented Ocean Plastic™ is high quality, certified recycled plastic that has been collected from coastal areas at risk of ocean plastic pollution. Used by supermarkets and brands around the world, it meets regulatory health and safety standards, is traceable back to source and can be identified on-pack through its distinctive triangular logo. Prevented Ocean Plastic™ is an official nominee for the 2023 Earthshot Prize, and counts Lidl, Sainsbury’s, Waitrose and Booths Supermarket as key partners, along with major manufacturing partners such as Groupe Guillin, Spectra Packaging, and Berry Global for offerings across multiple product categories, including fish, poultry, soft fruits, pet food, personal care, and home cleaning.
